Privacy Policy

Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use personal data when you use this website and when you request a CCTV quote (including booking a site survey).

In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" refers to Doberman (the website you are currently visiting).

Scope of this policy

This policy covers personal data we collect through this website (for example, when you request a quote or book a site survey).

Once we install a CCTV system at your property, you operate that system and any footage it captures. In data protection terms, you are the data controller for footage from the system on your premises. We are not a controller or processor of that footage and we cannot access it without your authorisation. For guidance on operating CCTV in line with UK data protection law, see ico.org.uk.

What personal data we collect

Depending on how you interact with the site, we may collect:

  • Quote request details: your name, email address, phone number (optional), and postcode.
  • Communications: if you contact us or we contact you about your quote, we may keep a record of relevant messages.
  • Technical data: IP address and basic request/device information that is typically included in server logs.
  • On-device analytics: we use localStorage in your browser to store simple counters/attribution (for example, CTA clicks and form submissions). This data stays on your device unless you clear site data.

We do not currently use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or third-party advertising trackers.

How we use your data (purposes)

  • To respond to your quote request, including arranging a site survey and confirming details.
  • To provide customer support and communicate with you about your enquiry.
  • To operate, secure and maintain our website (including preventing spam/abuse).
  • To understand how the website is used in a very limited way (for example, using the on-device metrics described above).

Lawful bases (UK GDPR)

Under the UK GDPR, we rely on the following lawful bases to process your personal data:

  • Contract: where processing is necessary to take steps at your request prior to entering into a contract (for example, preparing a quote and arranging a site survey).
  • Legitimate interests: to keep the website secure and running properly, and to prevent fraud/spam.
  • Consent: where we specifically ask for it (for example, if we ever introduce optional marketing you can choose to opt into).

Who we share data with

We use Netlify (including Netlify Forms) to host this website and to receive/store form submissions. This means your quote request details are processed by Netlify as a service provider on our behalf.

We may also share data if required by law, or to protect our rights, users, and the integrity of our services.

International transfers

Some of our service providers may process data outside the UK. Where this happens, we take steps designed to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (for example, relevant contractual protections).

How long we keep your data

We keep quote and enquiry details for the time needed to handle your request, then for a further 24 months for support, record-keeping, and to manage any follow-up. After that, we delete or anonymise the data unless we need to keep it for longer for a specific reason (for example, to handle a complaint or comply with the law).

Where we have an ongoing customer relationship - for example, after installation or while a warranty is active - we keep relevant records for the duration of that relationship plus the period required by tax and accounting law (currently 6 years in the UK).

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights including: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, objection, and the right to withdraw consent at any time (where consent is the lawful basis).

You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). You can contact the ICO at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Cookies and local storage

This site may use essential cookies and browser storage for basic functionality. We also use localStorage for lightweight on-device analytics counters/attribution. You can usually remove this data by clearing your browser's site data.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the "Last updated" date above.
