How long does CCTV installation take?

A typical home CCTV installation takes one day. Most 3 to 4 camera systems are fully installed, configured, and handed over within 4 to 6 hours. Larger systems or commercial installs may take a second day depending on the number of cameras and complexity of the cable routing.

The bulk of the time goes into cabling, not the cameras themselves. At Doberman, running Ethernet cable through lofts, cavity walls, and external conduit neatly and safely is what takes the most effort. Mounting a camera and connecting it to the NVR is relatively quick once the cable is in place.

A standard Doberman install follows this sequence: cable routes are planned and drilled, cables are run and terminated, cameras are mounted and aimed, the NVR is set up and connected, recording is configured, and the UniFi Protect app is set up for remote viewing. We return after dark the same evening to check IR night vision and adjust camera angles if needed.

Properties with easy loft access and short cable runs are faster. Properties with solid brick walls, multiple storeys, or long external runs take longer. We confirm the expected duration during the site survey so there are no surprises on install day.

Commercial installs with 8 or more cameras, structured cabling requirements, or multiple buildings typically take 1 to 2 days. We schedule these to minimise disruption to the business.
