Where is the best place to put CCTV cameras on a house?

The best CCTV camera positions on a house cover the most common entry and approach points. For most properties, the priority locations are the front door and porch area, the driveway or parking area, any side access gates or alleyways, and the rear garden covering patio doors or back entrances.

The front of the house is the most important position. A camera here captures anyone approaching your front door - whether that is a delivery driver, a visitor, or someone trying the door handle. Mounting it at first-floor height, angled down, gives a clear view of faces while making the camera harder to reach or tamper with.

Side access is the position most people overlook, and it is one of the most valuable. Many burglaries happen through side gates, where intruders are hidden from the street. A camera covering this path catches anyone trying to get around to the back of the property without being seen.

The driveway camera serves two purposes - it captures vehicle movements and covers another approach route. If you have had issues with car break-ins or vandalism, this position is especially important. Number plate capture at night requires good IR range and the right angle, which is something Doberman considers during the site survey.

The rear garden camera covers patio doors, French doors, and any back gates. Rear entry points are popular with burglars because they are out of sight from the road. A camera here also gives you a view of your garden and any outbuildings like sheds or garages.

Every property is different. During the site survey, Doberman walks around your property, identifies blind spots, checks lighting conditions, and recommends camera positions based on your specific layout - not a one-size-fits-all template. The goal is full coverage with no dead zones, using the fewest cameras needed to do the job properly.
