What you get
Complete hardware package
Cameras, NVR, surveillance-grade hard drive, PoE switch (if needed), mounting hardware, junction boxes, and all Cat5e or Cat6 cabling included in one quote.
Professional installation
Cameras mounted, cables routed through lofts, cavities, and conduit. NVR positioned and connected. Clean cable management throughout. No visible cable runs where avoidable.
Night commissioning
Every camera checked after dark for IR range, exposure, and WDR. Detection zones configured. Adjustments made on the spot so you are not relying on daytime-only testing.

Remote access configured on your phone. Full walkthrough of live view, playback, and alerts. You leave the handover knowing exactly how to use the system.
How it works
Survey
We visit the property, assess camera positions, measure distances, and note cable routes. You get a detailed quote with camera specs, NVR sizing, and a layout plan - before any work starts.
Install
Full installation in one visit for most packages. Cameras mounted, cabling run, NVR installed, everything connected and powered via PoE. Typically completed within a day.
Commission
Daytime and night-time testing on every channel. Detection zones set, app access configured, and a full walkthrough so you understand the system before we leave.
What is included in a CCTV package
Every package we supply and install includes the full set of hardware and labour needed for a working CCTV system. That means IP cameras specified for your property - resolution, form factor, and lens matched to your actual coverage requirements. A network video recorder with the right channel count and a surveillance-grade hard drive sized for your retention target. A dedicated PoE network switch if needed, or a PoE NVR with built-in ports for simpler systems. All Cat5e or Cat6 cabling, weatherproof junction boxes, and mounting brackets. Professional installation with tidy cable routing. Night commissioning. And app setup on your phone so you can view footage remotely from day one.
There are no hidden extras. The quote covers everything. You do not get an invoice for cable that was not in the estimate, or an additional charge for configuring remote access. We have seen enough Leicester homeowners caught out by installers who quote for hardware and then add labour, cabling, and configuration as separate line items. Our packages are genuinely all-inclusive.
Ongoing costs are zero. There is no subscription, no cloud storage fee, no monitoring charge. Footage is recorded locally on your NVR. Remote access works through the manufacturer app at no cost. If you want to see how this compares to subscription-based consumer systems, our consumer vs professional CCTV lays it out clearly.
Package sizes: 2-camera to 16-camera
A 2-camera package is the starting point for a terraced house or flat - typically covering the front door and rear garden. A 3 or 4-camera system is the most common residential package we install across Leicester, covering front, rear, side access, and driveway. These are built around a 4-channel or 8-channel PoE NVR with a 2TB or 4TB drive, giving two to six weeks of continuous recording depending on resolution and recording mode.
For larger homes, detached properties, and small commercial premises, 6 to 8-camera packages cover all access points plus areas like garages, side returns, and garden boundaries. These typically use an 8-channel NVR or a standalone NVR with a dedicated PoE switch for more flexible cable routing. Hard drives are sized at 4TB to 6TB depending on your retention needs.
Commercial packages from 8 to 16 cameras cover shops, offices, warehouses, and multi-unit properties. These installations use 16-channel NVRs, managed PoE switches with VLAN isolation, structured cabling with patch panels, and network cabinets. Storage runs from 6TB to 10TB or more, and RAID configurations are available for sites where footage loss is not acceptable. We provide a detailed, itemised quote after the site survey so you can see exactly what each component costs.
Home packages vs business packages
The hardware is fundamentally the same - IP cameras, NVR, PoE, Cat5e or Cat6 cabling. The difference is in scale, specification, and how the network is configured. Home packages are typically simpler: a PoE NVR with built-in ports, cameras mounted to external walls and soffits, cables routed through the loft. The NVR sits in a cupboard or on a shelf. Configuration is straightforward and the homeowner manages the system through a phone app.
Business packages add complexity that reflects the environment. Cameras may need to be vandal-resistant (dome housings). Cable runs are longer and may need containment (trunking or conduit) to meet building regulations or landlord requirements. The network often needs VLAN isolation so CCTV traffic does not mix with business systems. Storage and retention requirements are typically higher - 30 days or more for insurance or compliance purposes. We handle all of this as part of the package, not as add-on charges.
Both home and business packages are installed and commissioned by the same team using the same standards. The difference is in the specification, not the quality of work. Whether it is a 3-camera system in Stoneygate or a 12-camera system on a Leicester industrial estate, every cable is tested, every camera is night-commissioned, and the system is handed over fully operational.
Why a supply-and-fit package beats buying separately
You can buy CCTV cameras, an NVR, a hard drive, and a PoE switch online for less than we charge for a supply-and-fit package. That is obvious. What you cannot buy online is the knowledge to specify the right components for your property, the skill to mount cameras securely and route cables cleanly, the equipment to test every cable run, and the experience to commission the system after dark so your night footage is actually usable.
The most common problems we see on DIY and self-purchased systems across Leicester: cameras mounted too high or too low for useful facial identification, IR glare from nearby walls because the mounting position was not thought through, hard drives that are too small or not surveillance-rated, Wi-Fi cameras that drop out when bandwidth is contested, and systems never tested at night because the installer was only there during the day. These are not edge cases - they are the majority of systems we get called to assess or replace.
A supply-and-fit package removes the guesswork entirely. You get hardware specified for your property, installed properly, and proven to work in the conditions it will actually face. Our blog walks through the full installation process so you know what to expect. For an overview of every component in the system, see our equipment supply service.
No subscriptions, no ongoing fees
Every CCTV package we install records locally to an NVR on your property. There is no cloud storage, no monthly fee, and no subscription of any kind. The system works independently of your broadband - if your internet goes down, recording continues without interruption. Remote viewing requires an internet connection, but the recording itself does not.
This is a fundamental difference from consumer systems like Ring, Arlo, and Nest, which charge monthly for cloud storage and rely on your Wi-Fi and broadband for recording. Cancel the subscription and you lose your footage history. Broadband drops out and you have a gap in coverage. With a locally recorded PoE system, none of that applies. You pay once for the hardware and installation, and the system runs for years without any recurring cost. Our Ring vs professional CCTV covers this in detail if you are weighing up the options.
Pricing
Package pricing depends on camera count, resolution, NVR specification, and the complexity of the cable routing. A 2-camera home package costs significantly less than a 12-camera commercial system with structured cabling and a network cabinet. Every quote is fixed-price and all-inclusive - cameras, recorder, drives, cabling, installation, commissioning, and app setup. No hidden extras.

Frequently asked questions
- What is included in a CCTV package?
- Everything. Cameras, NVR, surveillance-grade hard drive, PoE switch if needed, all cabling, mounting hardware, weatherproof junction boxes, professional installation, night commissioning, and app setup on your phone. One fixed price with no hidden extras.
- How many cameras do I need?
- It depends on the property. A typical terraced house needs 2 to 3 cameras. A semi-detached or detached home usually needs 3 to 5. Commercial premises vary widely. We assess your property during the survey and recommend camera positions based on access points and coverage requirements.
- Can I add more cameras later?
- Yes. We specify NVRs with spare channels so you can expand without replacing the recorder. Adding a camera later means mounting the new unit, running a cable back to the switch or NVR, and configuring the channel. We can do this as a follow-up visit.
- Is there a monthly subscription?
- No. There is no subscription, cloud fee, or monitoring charge. Footage is recorded locally on your NVR. Remote access through the manufacturer app is free. The system runs independently with no recurring costs.
- How long does installation take?
- Most 2 to 4-camera home packages are completed in a single day. Larger systems - 6 cameras and above - may take one to two days depending on cable routing complexity. Commercial installations with structured cabling can take two to three days. We confirm the timeline in your quote.
- Why not just buy a CCTV kit online?
- Online kits come with generic cameras, undersized drives, and no installation. You lose the specification, professional mounting, cable testing, night commissioning, and system configuration that make a CCTV system actually useful. Professional installation involves specification, mounting, cabling, configuration, and night commissioning - none of which comes in a box.
