Floodlight Installation in Leicester

We supply and install PoE-powered security floodlights across Leicester homes and businesses. Each unit delivers 550 lumens of intense LED light, is fully weatherproof for exposed outdoor mounting, and includes built-in motion detection. The floodlight is wall-mountable and hardwired over Ethernet - no mains wiring to arrange, no batteries to die, and no wireless signal to jam. One Cat5e or Cat6 cable delivers power and data, making it part of the same reliable network as your cameras and sensors.

What you get

  • Floodlight specification and placement

We assess your property and recommend floodlight positions based on where illumination has the most security impact - driveways, side passages, rear gardens, car parks, and blind spots that cameras struggle with in the dark.

  • PoE-powered hardwired installation

The floodlight is cabled back to your PoE switch or NVR over a single Ethernet cable. No electrician needed for mains wiring, no battery packs to replace, no solar panels to keep clean.

  • Trigger and schedule configuration

We configure how and when the floodlight activates - motion-triggered, dusk-to-dawn scheduling, sensor-linked events, or manual control via the app. Rules are set to match your property and routine.

  • Integration with cameras and sensors

The floodlight sits on the same PoE network as your CCTV and sensors. A motion event can simultaneously activate the floodlight, start camera recording, and send a push notification to your phone.

How it works

1

Assess

We identify the best floodlight positions based on your property layout, dark spots, and where illumination will improve both deterrence and camera image quality.

2

Install

Floodlight mounted, cabled back to the PoE switch, and powered up. Cable routes kept clean through lofts, cavities, or external conduit.

3

Configure

Activation rules set, brightness and schedules configured, and a live test carried out. You get a full walkthrough of how to control the floodlight from your phone.

Why PoE floodlights beat traditional security lights

Traditional security floodlights need a mains connection, which means hiring an electrician, running armoured cable, and dealing with a separate circuit. Battery and solar alternatives look convenient until the battery dies in winter or the panel gets covered in grime. The PoE floodlights we install eliminate all of that. 550 lumens of LED output from a weatherproof, wall-mountable unit - powered and connected over a single Ethernet cable. The floodlight communicates directly with your sensor network and CCTV recorder. There is no separate switch on the wall, no timer in the garage, and no electrician booking to arrange.

Because the floodlight is on the same network as your cameras and sensors, activation events are logged with timestamps and linked to camera footage. When the floodlight triggers, you can see exactly what caused it. If you are away from the property, a push notification tells you which event activated the light, and your cameras give you a well-lit recording of whoever is out there - not a dark, grainy image that is useless for identification.

Strategic placement for maximum deterrence

A floodlight in the wrong position is just a light. In the right position, 550 lumens of LED output is a deterrent that makes an intruder feel exposed and gives your cameras the illumination they need for clear footage. The units are wall-mountable and rated for exposed outdoor use, so they go where they are needed - not where it is convenient. We mount floodlights at positions that cover the approaches most likely to be used by an intruder - the driveway, side gate, rear garden, and any unlit passage along the property boundary.

For homes, the most common positions are above the front door covering the driveway, at the rear covering the garden and back door, and along any side passage that connects front to back. For businesses, car parks, loading bays, fire exits, and perimeter fencing are the priority. We position each floodlight to overlap with camera coverage so the footage captured during an event is properly illuminated.

Smart activation and scheduling

A floodlight that stays on all night wastes energy and annoys the neighbours. One that triggers every time a fox crosses the garden trains everyone to ignore it. Each floodlight has built-in motion detection, so it can activate independently when it detects movement in its zone. We configure activation rules so the floodlight responds intelligently. Motion in the driveway at 2am activates the light immediately. The same motion at 6pm when you are pulling in from work does not. Rules can be time-based, sensor-specific, or tied to arm/disarm states you control from your phone.

You can also set different behaviours for different zones. A floodlight covering the front drive might run on a dusk-to-dawn schedule at low brightness, then switch to full brightness on motion detection. A rear garden light might stay off until a sensor triggers it. The flexibility is in the configuration, and we set it up during installation so you are not left guessing how to programme it yourself.

Pairing floodlights with cameras for better footage

Cameras with built-in IR illumination work in the dark, but the footage is monochrome and often washed out at close range. A PoE floodlight triggered at the same time as a camera recording gives you full-colour footage with enough detail to identify faces, clothing, and vehicle registrations. This is the difference between footage that confirms something happened and footage that is actually useful to the police.

If you already have a Doberman CCTV system, adding floodlights to the same PoE network is straightforward - it is just another cable and another device on the switch. The floodlight and camera share trigger events, so when one activates, the other responds automatically.

Pricing

Floodlight costs depend on the number of units, brightness requirements, cable run lengths, and whether the floodlight is being added to an existing PoE network or installed as part of a new system. We provide a fixed quote after the site survey with no hidden charges.

Why Doberman

Frequently asked questions

Does the floodlight need mains power?
No. The floodlight is powered entirely over Ethernet via a PoE switch. One cable provides both power and network connectivity. There is no mains wiring and no battery to maintain.
How bright are the floodlights?
Each floodlight produces 550 lumens of LED output - enough to illuminate a driveway, garden, or car park effectively for both deterrence and camera footage quality.
Can I control the floodlight from my phone?
Yes. You can turn the floodlight on and off, adjust schedules, and change activation rules from the management app. You also receive push notifications when the floodlight is triggered by motion or a sensor event.
Will the floodlight work if my internet goes down?
Yes. The floodlight operates on your local PoE network. If the internet drops, the floodlight still responds to motion triggers and schedules. You just will not receive remote push notifications until connectivity is restored.
Can I add a floodlight to my existing Doberman CCTV system?
Yes, provided there are available PoE ports on your switch or NVR, or we can add a switch to expand capacity. The floodlight integrates with the same network and management interface.
Will it annoy my neighbours?
Not if configured properly. We set activation zones, brightness levels, and schedules during installation to avoid light spill into neighbouring properties. The floodlight can run at reduced brightness on a schedule and only go to full output on a motion trigger, which keeps it unobtrusive until it is needed.
