What you get

  • Sensor specification and placement

We assess your property and recommend sensor types, quantities, and positions based on the layout. Every device is placed where it adds genuine coverage - not where it is easiest to mount.

  • PoE-powered installation

All sensors and sirens run on Power over Ethernet. One cable per device for data and power. No battery changes, no wireless interference, no signal range issues.

  • System configuration

Every sensor is configured with detection zones, sensitivity thresholds, and alert rules tailored to your property. You get notifications that matter - not false alarms from passing traffic.

  • Integration with existing CCTV

If you already have a Doberman CCTV system, sensors can trigger camera events and recording. One network, one interface, one team managing the lot.

How it works

1

Survey

We visit your property, identify vulnerabilities, and map out which sensors cover which entry points and zones. You get a written specification before any work begins.

2

Install

Sensors mounted, cabled back to the network, and powered via PoE. Cable routes run through lofts, cavities, and conduit - clean and invisible.

3

Configure

Detection zones set, alert rules configured, and integration with your recorder or app tested. Full walkthrough so you know how every sensor works and what each alert means.

Sirens for instant audible deterrence

A loud siren at the point of intrusion is still one of the most effective deterrents available. The PoE sirens we install are powered over Ethernet - no separate mains connection, no battery backup to fail, and no wireless signal to jam. They mount externally or internally and are triggered by sensor events or manual activation. Because they run on the same PoE network as your cameras and sensors, there is no separate alarm panel or additional wiring to manage.

We configure siren activation rules during installation so the system responds intelligently. A door sensor triggering at 3am can sound the siren immediately. A motion sensor in the garden during the day can log the event without waking the neighbours. The rules are set to match how you actually use your property. For full details on the siren hardware, mounting options, and how we integrate it with the rest of your system, see our security siren installation.

Entry sensors for doors and windows

Entry sensors detect when a door or window is opened. They are the most fundamental sensor in any security system - simple, reliable, and impossible to bypass without triggering. The sensors we install use magnetic reed contacts hardwired over PoE, which means they report status in real time with no wireless delay and no batteries to go flat after six months. We fit them to front doors, back doors, side gates, garage doors, and ground-floor windows - any opening that an intruder could use.

Each sensor is individually identified on the system so you know exactly which door or window has been opened - not just that "a sensor triggered somewhere." Combined with your CCTV, this gives you an immediate picture of what happened and where. For technical details on the sensors, wiring, and how they integrate with the wider system, visit our entry sensor installation.

Smart sensors for motion, environment, and light

Beyond basic intrusion detection, we install multi-function sensors that monitor motion, ambient light, temperature, humidity, and water leaks. These are not novelty smart home gadgets - they are commercial-grade PoE devices that feed data into the same system as your cameras and entry sensors. A water leak sensor under the boiler can alert you before the ceiling comes down. A temperature sensor in a server room can warn you if the AC fails overnight.

The all-in-one sensors we install combine passive infrared motion detection with environmental monitoring in a single housing. One device, one cable, multiple data points. We configure alert thresholds for each parameter during installation so you only get notified when something actually needs attention. Our smart security sensor installation covers the specific models, what they measure, and where we typically install them across Leicester properties.

Glass break detection for perimeter security

Glass break sensors detect the specific acoustic signature of breaking glass. They cover scenarios that entry sensors miss - an intruder smashing a window rather than opening it. The sensors we install are tuned to distinguish actual glass breakage from other loud noises like thunder, a ball hitting a window, or a door slamming. They mount on walls or ceilings within range of the glazing they are protecting and connect back to the system via PoE.

For ground-floor rooms with large windows or glass doors - conservatories, patio doors, shop fronts - glass break sensors fill an important gap. They trigger before the intruder is inside the property, giving you earlier warning and faster siren activation. For full specifications and installation details, see our glass break sensor installation.

Video doorbells with no subscription

We also install PoE video doorbells that replace battery-powered Ring and Nest units with a hardwired alternative. Permanent power, no Wi-Fi dependency, two-way audio, and footage that records to your local NVR instead of a cloud service that charges you monthly to watch your own front door. The doorbell sits on the same PoE network as your cameras and sensors, so a visitor pressing the bell can trigger recordings on other cameras and appear on the same event timeline.

Most battery doorbells miss the first second or two of motion because they wake from a low-power sleep state. A PoE doorbell is always on, always recording, and always at full resolution. For full details on models, mounting, and how we integrate doorbells with the rest of your system, see our video doorbell installation.

Floodlights for illumination and deterrence

A well-lit property is harder to approach unnoticed. The PoE floodlights we install are powered over Ethernet - no mains wiring to arrange, no battery to replace, and no solar panel to keep clean. They mount on walls or eaves and activate on motion, on a schedule, or when triggered by another sensor on the network. Because they share the same PoE infrastructure as your cameras, a triggered floodlight can simultaneously start a recording - giving you full-colour, well-lit footage instead of dark IR images.

We configure activation rules and brightness levels during installation so the floodlight responds intelligently without disturbing neighbours. For full details on placement, wiring, and how we integrate floodlights with the rest of your system, see our floodlight installation.

Frequently asked questions

Do the sensors work without a CCTV system?
Yes. The sensors and sirens operate on their own PoE network and can send alerts independently through the management app. However, they work best alongside a CCTV system because sensor events can trigger camera recordings, giving you video verification of every alert.
Are these sensors wireless or wired?
Wired. Every sensor we install runs on Power over Ethernet via a Cat5e or Cat6 cable. This eliminates battery replacements, wireless interference, and signal range problems. PoE sensors are more reliable than wireless alternatives and do not depend on your Wi-Fi network.
Can you add sensors to my existing Doberman CCTV system?
Yes, provided your existing system has available PoE ports or we can add a switch to expand capacity. The sensors integrate with the same network and management interface your cameras already use.
What happens when a sensor triggers?
The system logs the event, sends a push notification to your phone, and can activate a siren or trigger a camera recording depending on how the rules are configured. You see exactly which sensor triggered and when.
Do I need a separate alarm panel?
No. The sensors connect directly to your PoE network and are managed through the same interface as your cameras. There is no traditional alarm panel, no separate keypad, and no additional monthly monitoring contract required.
How many sensors does a typical home need?
A typical three-bedroom Leicester home needs entry sensors on the front door, back door, and any accessible ground-floor windows - usually four to six sensors in total. Add a siren and a motion sensor for the hallway or landing and you have comprehensive coverage. We specify the exact count during the site survey.
